I am 47 years old and I'm avoiding Botox. I am also attempting to use only ingredients from my kitchen on my skin. At least for now. I am not against the idea of lotions and creams made in a lab and I am definitely not against Botox or cosmetic surgery. It's just that right now, I'm trying to keep it all natural and see how I age.
With all the intense stress I've endured, I consider myself lucky that I don't look 20 years older than my age. I exercise daily and I drink a lot of water. That helps my skin a lot. However, I do some things that are not so good too. I eat junk when I'm super busy and don't have time to plan (sadly, this happens too often). I dehydrate myself with wine and coffee (but I do not intend to quit any time soon). But, on average, I drink enough water and I eat pretty healthy foods.
So, my skin... Following are a few homemade scrubs, masks and creams I use for my skin:
- Avocado- I mash up half an avocado (the other half is for eating) and rub it all over my face. I let it dry for about 15 minutes and then I rinse it off. It leaves my skin super soft.
- Cinnamon & Nutmeg- for exfoliating, I combine about half a teaspoon of cinnamon and half a teaspoon of nutmeg with a dab of coconut oil. I rub this gently on my face and rinse. Not only does it feel smooth and soft, but it smells great too.
- Coffee scrub- combine about half a teaspoon of coconut oil with about half a teaspoon of finely ground coffee. Rub onto face and leave for at least 15 minutes (up to an hour if you have time). Rinse off and see radiant skin. (*can also add a bit of Turmeric to this mix)
- Egg white mask- remove the yolk and rub only the egg white on your face. Let it dry and then rinse off. This helps decrease fine lines and wrinkles.
